Humble beginnings and Family Roots
Two best friends and a garage. That’s how Peninsulators, the leading window covering subcontractor throughout the Bay Area, was founded in 1985. Fast forward 37 years, and Peninsulators has grown to four locations and over a hundred employees.
Tackling complicated projects for enterprise clients, universities, tech companies, K-12 organizations, healthcare, multifamily and more, Peninsulators has become the go-to window covering subcontractor across the West Coast. The secret to their success? Family roots and adopting the right construction technology to support their operations.
“When we started, the tools we used were mail and phone calls. We used to have to get together in the shop to get our schedules laid out,” Ryan Whitaker, Director of Operations at Peninsulators says. “As we’ve grown into a larger operation with constant schedule changes, we needed a way to quickly send updates to our crews without having to make individual phone calls — and this tool accomplished that.”

For four hours every Thursday, a team of twenty did their best to navigate the labor schedule on a spreadsheet and plan for the week ahead. As Peninsulators scaled and brought on key investors, it became increasingly difficult to effectively schedule and communicate labor changes. Procore Project Management supported their project data, making it easy to store files, but the team wanted to bolster the company’s technology even more.
